HISTORY OF NORTHERN IRELAND TAIHO JUTSU DOJO

The Northern Ireland dojo was formed in 1997 by J Hamill and P McTrustry.

They began martial art training in the eighties, learning judo with Walter McFarlane, and Jeff Steel, and soon were winning competitions. When this club closed the duo were invited to train in a private club in Belfast where they were introduced to the arts of Aikido, Taiho Jutsu, Sombo and Ju Jutsu.

Their instructor is Sensei Brian Eustace, 9th dan from Stratford-Upon-Avon.  He was responsible for the establishment of the art in the UK and Ireland in the early seventies and is known as an accomplished Aikido and Judo player.

They received their black belts in multiple disciplines in the mid 1990s and in 1997 established their own dojo in the newly opened Sixmile Leisure Centre in Ballyclare.

A Junior section was established and began competing at British and International level.

Since then the dojo has moved and is established nearby in the village of Doagh, with a 24/7 training ability.
